The power to choose
On 1 July 2007, the electricity and natural gas markets in Queensland were opened up to competition.
This means, for the first time, many householders and small businesses have a choice about who they buy their electricity and natural gas from. However, competition is mostly focused in south-east Queensland because of its larger market and lower costs of supply.
