What does a distributor do?

Your gas distributor delivers the gas to your home or business via their pipeline networks.

Can I choose my gas distributor?

No. It is not possible to choose your gas distributor as gas distribution businesses operate pipelines in specific geographic areas. Envestra owns the natural gas distribution networks in the Brisbane CBD, northern suburbs of Brisbane, Ipswich, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Maryborough and Hervey Bay. Australian Pipeline Trust owns the Allgas network (formerly owned by ENERGEX) in the southern suburbs of Brisbane, Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Oakey.

I don't have gas, but I want it - what do I do?

Not all areas have natural gas distribution networks. You will need to contact the natural gas distributor for your area, a retailer or the New Connections Hotline to see if there is a gas pipeline in your street. If there is, they will explain what needs to be done to connect you, and how much it will cost.
